Hi I'm new to the mopar world and I picked up a 65 coronet 500 less engine. I built this 440 for a flat bottom boat and it never got used. It runs to good to just sit in the garage. It runs 12.6 to 1 compression, roller cam, aluminum heads and Tti headers. My question is what intake and carb would you recommend. Rite now it has an offenhauser tunnel ram with twin 750 holley's. I would like to put the hood on stock, but still have it run good. Your recommendations would be helpful. I'm still trying to figure how to upload the photos. Thanks

is the 440 a marine engine? IIRC, they spin opposite of a car engine

Not a marine engine. I have been running it in the car and it runs great, I just didn't want to cut a hole in the original hood.

I will recommend the Edelbrock Performer RPM with a 850 Holley but you need to get the RPM's dimensions before buying to make sure it will not cause you clearance issues.

Not all marine engines run backwards, only when there are 2 engines are used, then 1 runs backwards.

A 440 with 1500 cfm of carbs in a flat bottom boat, better put a bungey cord on that cooler lid :glasses13:

Glad its in the car now.

A super vic edel might fit with a 950 under the hood. It is a very tight fit under a cuda hood with a low profile air breather. I believe you have a little more room under your b body. The compression is a bit high for the street though. Have you considered a head gasket swap to bring the compression down some?

Hi!
I'm 40 miles North of you a little past Edwards.
Welcome aboard.
Thanks for joining the forum.

I usually use the Edelbrock Dual Plane style manifold for torque.

You will never be able to match the tunnel ram but the edelbrock rpm and mopar m1 single plane are good manifolds. Holley street dominator is good low rise single plane.

Let us know when you remove that tunnel ram and carbs....
PUT IT ON the Performance Parts section for sale on this site with some pictures. Lotta demand for that setup, it will pay for your brand new intake and carb.
And yes....that part of the high desert in CA is god's country.

You didnt say if your Aluminum Heads were standard port or MAX WEDGE port.
You will need that info when ordering your intake.
Since you have the tunnel ram they are probably standard port size, but check to make sure.

I had the INDY dual plane (standard port size) 4150 intake on my 440 with a 850 Mighty Demon and it fit and worked perfect.
The Indy is probably the best (and most expensive) dual plane intake on the market. Check it out on their web site at Indy Cylinder Heads.

Thanks for all the replies, My granddaughter comendeared the computer for a while. Yes, they are standard port heads. I know it's high compression for the street, but it sure sounds good. I mainly drive it on the street, but I would like to take it out to Willow Springs. They have a 1,000 ft track. I've heard good things about the Indy. I need help on posting the pictures, I got them attached but they don't come up on my post. Thanks again.

Hi super-bee_ski, are you part of the local Mopar club?

Being mostly a street car I will say the Performer RPM or the Indy dual plane which does come in standard port and Max Wedge ports. I use the Indy dual plane on my 63 Sport Fury and its a street car. I like the Indy dual plane as it works nice for me and has good drieability. Ron
