So I was wondering what the difference is between a 72 and a 73 Satellite trunk lid and if I can modify the 73 lid to fit on a 72 body? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It will fit fine, But you will need a different trunk lock

as stated, and I think should be the same than Chargers... 73 locks began to be installed with a nut, being bigger pieces ( so then the hole on lid ), for a while the 72s and earliers where with the spring retainer... so matching the trunk lock with the year of the trunk lid everything should be fine
