Is it just me or do led work lights suck?

I changed all my 4ft fluorescent bulbs to 4000k LEDs and couldn’t be happier. Didn’t want to add more fixtures so, just added more light. Actually took 2 fixtures down and intend to make brackets, with magnets, to stick the extra fixtures to each side of my 2 post.

I have been slowly changing out my 8' fluorescent light bulbs with LED'S as the fluorescent bulbs burn out. I think I am at 4 or 5 of the 16 bulbs so far. They are much brighter and also come on immediately when I flip on the switch when the garage is cooler while the remaining take a few minutes to warm up abit. I do keep me furnace on at 50 degrees all winter until I go out in the garage. Then I kick it up to 65.
I did install some magnetic LED light strips on my hoist. I don't even need to use any drop lights under the cars while working on them.

those magnetic LED strips look great! Do you by chance have a part # or link to order? Would these give enough light if I placed on the underside of my hood to do engine work?

I don't remember the part #. I bought them off of Amazon. Yes, I am sure they would, but they are 25' long strips each.

My 2 cents... I like the LEDs and have been converting the overhead fluorescents to LED's as they burn out. I have the LED replacement bulbs that you can change the "color/temperature" to what suits you. I like the Bright White!
In addition, I added 8' long LED lights to my shop door as you can see in the photo. Keep in mind, my cell phone camera doesn't do it justice. It makes the lights look harsher than they are. These are multi use as I can have all 4 rows lit or just some of them depending on the work area I want lit.
Yes, the top two rows are a different color, and that kind of bothers me too. I ordered a different brand just because they have 4 rows of LEDs in a U shape and the bottom 2 rows have 3 rows of LEDs. But I plan on swapping the lower ones out for the 4 row lights.
An added benefit, because of the shape of the LEDs, when I raise the shop door, the front of the shop is well illuminated out to about 15 feet so I can work under the hood in the driveway!

:poke:

I use overhead led's to lighten up the area overall, then trouble lights etc with incandescent for my immediate work area

For portable spot work, I got these from Temu for about $12 Canadian. They fit my 18V Milwaukee batteries, give lots of bright light and last for hours at a time. It also comes with built in USB ports.
