I changed the lower control arm and strut rod bushings in my 68 Charger and I'm starting to put it back together. In the process I noticed the from ball joint nut is hitting the lower control arm when I turn the spindle all the way. They are hitting on both sides, meaning driver and passenger side. The kit that was installed uses bolts that are 2 5/8 long and the lock nut is 3/4" long. I bought some bolts that say they are 2 1/2 long and I'm hoping they work. Am I making too much of this? I also found that the shank for the lower ball joint is too long, the castle nut jams against the spindle and cannot be spun unless I loosen the ball joint bolts. So, I'm changing the ball joints to Moog, they seem to work better.

The stop for turning is the bump on the lower ball joint will hit the lower control arm. That is by design.

Makes sense. It was hitting there when I pulled the offending bolt out. Sounds like I’m on track.

Are you checking clearance while the suspension is hanging? Or at ride height..

Oh ****....Hanging. I'm going to check what you're saying now. I didn't take that into consideration. That could make the difference.

Ok, it’s not hitting on the driver side. Only in the passenger side. That’s with the suspension hanging. It’s hitting on the bottom of the control arm. I tried to take a picture, but a caliper just fell on my phone and damaged it.
