I was watching GYC, and Worman had the head of the Mopar Division, Pietro Gorlier, on. This guy looks like he's going to become the next CEO of Fiat/Chrysler and I was wondering if it would be the smart move to just kill off Dodge and create an overall Mopar brand. That would mean the end of the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger and create a Mopar Charger and Mopar Challenger, but could also open the door for the Mopar Roadrunner, GTX, and 'Cuda without it being weird.

Fiat/Chrysler can still have Chrysler for it's traditional car lines, but I think it's getting more and more obvious that Dodge's future lies in performance, but their lines are getting old and dated and in need of broadening, and changing the brand to Mopar, which they are already known as, would be a great way forward to expanding their market share.

I think it would be cool, like you said dodge roadrunner or dodge cuda is weird, but mopar on the other hand seems ok.

Didn't they already do that with the SRT branding? As well as the ram trucks are now just rams not dodge rams. But I do like the Idea. Even the mopar name/division is owned by Fiat/Chrysler. So I don't believe it will be easy to remove it from Fiats grasp.

If any consolidation of marquee names happens, it would probably be impacted by future platforms they're using. There's a big batch of Mercedes platforms still in use. If you remember, Fiat wanted to re-enter the US market and Chrysler was an easy ticket in (and cheap at the time). I imagine they would probably sell off Chrysler first than go to "Mopar", since that only has brand recognition in performance circles. Ram is now set up for selling in the future. There's talk of Jeep too.

I hope they really don't do a Cuda. Prices are already astronomical, and that will probably raise prices more, like I think name recognition of "Charger/Challenger" has affected the muscle era just a little bit.

Yeah, you know Bru?
I caught that to!
Very interesting....

I've said it several times before......All signs of Chrysler, other than Jeep.....will be gone in my lifetime. It's an Italian company, and has no use for anything but Jeep. The Germans would have done the same thing. I've had no loyalty to "Chrysler"....since the "Bobs" gave it away.

They've already killed the dodge truck.
Why not just call it a Ram Charger, Ram Challenger, Ram Demon ect

I think a foreign company owning it is stupid lol. Like another mentioned, can't or at least won't pay the stupid price for them anyways so I don't really care.

Some may remember when Chrysler Corp was just that. Plymouth was acquired before my time and Dodge was brought in later.
I can remember dads first Dodge in 68 purchased form the local Dodge dealer and the Chrysler/Plymouth guys were down the street.
To make this short I have no real problem with the selling of Dodge, Jeep or Ram if sold to people wanting to build and sell quality cars and trucks.
We have all seen where the brokers and investment firms have taken the corp. I do not see things surviving another round of it.

I own 3 Dodge automobiles and drive one at work too. Like seeing the D O D G E logo.
Brothers John and Horace. Remember, they powered the early Fords too. History. Culture. Keep it.

Much of it is under the performance versions SRT banners
but I like the idea of Mopar branded "specialty vehicles"

They could bring back
Road Runner's GTX's Cuda's Satellite's Belvedere's
Fury/Sport Fury's Savoy's Duster's even a Trailduster's etc.
among many others in the ol' Plymouth line up/names,
it'd be widely acceptable as a Mopar...
Especially if they were performance builds...
I do love my Plymouths...
I also still own a Dodge too...

I wouldn't eliminate the Dodge Brandings/Badging all together
too much history, I actually think there's room for all
Ram Dodge Chrysler Jeep SRT MOPAR

Kinda of a moot point for me too.....even if I could afford a new truck, they just cost way too much plus I don't like all the computer crap on them. However, I do like my buddies new 4 door dually long bed with all the trimmings although it costs nearly as much as I paid for my house in 84!

I used to think it would be cool to bring back the GTX. But the whole "gentlemans
Musclecar." That signifies the 67-70 GTX is kinda gone. I mean even the most basic Kia nowadays has more bells and whistles than the GTX designers could have dreamed up.
So unless it comes with a "happy ending" I'm scared bringing it back would do it no justice.
If they were to make it a 4 door or something stupid like that, I'd be pissed.
Maybe bringing back the Satty and having a sport version would be practical though

When you let dumb *** execs do the thinking they come up with **** like. This HEMI GTX umm its a damn pickup.. So much for cross branding.. Or the Dodge Charger Superbee.. Yea real cool ideas they have over there..

Fiat got what it wanted now sell it all in pieces and all rights in the sale to individuals whom will make the divisions what they should be ( Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and Jeep ).
Lets get Mercadies and Fiat totally out of the picture.
Tried of smart *** foreigners telling us what we want.
