JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH MY LOCAL DEALER HES TELLING ME ONLY 1200 WILL BE MADE!:eusa_doh:ANYONE HEARD THIS TO? IF SO SO MUCH FOR THE 60K PRICE TAG UGGGG:angry1:
 
I live in a small town with a small dealership and am friends with the owner of said dealership hes been right on a lot of stuff before im just hoping this time hes wrong :edgy:
 
when they did the 68 RR :headbang: it was only planed for 5,000 units originally, demand grew to 44k + the 1st year alone...

who freaken' knows, there's so much speculation on these right now,

you don't know what to believe, what's just driving the hype/media machine rumors...

Just look at all the attention this one car is getting right now, it would be really dumb, to pass on all the potential sales,

especially if it's special order, premium priced car, profit is the name of the game,
especially for dealers & Fiat/Chrysler Corp.

If this turns out to be the case the Chrysler execs. need to have their a$$'s kicked. All this hype for 1200 cars. what a load of dung.
 
Doesn't sound completely unreasonable. Regardless of the excitement, very few people are willing to spend that kinda $ on a car period, much less something that's a limited usage toy.

It will also be the first year of production, so they can always increase supply in following years if they think they'll sell.

How many should be built? 2000? 3000? More?
 
If the factory only builds 1200 of them and sell them for around 60K they will probably not break even on them. But the engineers love to design them and even the line workers like to build 'em. What they will get is the great buzz that they are already enjoying and it's hard to put a $ value on that.
 
In 2007 I was trying to buy a Challenger. Chrysler played games, only made very few (if I recall they might all have been SRT models), and the price went through the roof since there were so few. It went way out of my price range.

I REALLY wanted one, but I was so pissed at Chrysler I went and bought a Mustang California Special. Yes, I would have much preferred the Challenger, but if that is the way Chrysler works with jacking up the price, then screw them. I was pissed and still am. The result was they never go ANY of my money. Ford did with a reasonably priced fun car.

Do I think they will do the same? Why not? Create hype with the car, but that means only the wealthy will be able to afford the car. Maybe a few years from now us regular folk might have a chance...
 
True, but the Hellcat also generates publicity which they hope will drive sales of lesser models.

Well, don't forget, at that time "Challenger" was a new model. Chrysler had no clue as to what the demand was going to be. IMO, It was a good idea to do what they did at the time. It developed interest for the following model year, when Challengers were available in various trim levels and various price ranges.

Numbers, Numbers, Numbers.....

I had the opportunity to talk to one of our local automotive reporters today. He attended the press day Chrysler put on in Portland. he drove both the 6-speed and auto Hellcat and they scared the heck outta him!!!! But he thought they were a blast to drive.''

Also, the Chrysler reps said the production numbers for '15 will be around 3000 units. So that falls in line with RC and others have said. My guess is they will sell out and '16 will have full production for the Hellcat...

Pricewise, $59-62k is the number stated. Not counting the dealer vig!

It doesn't make sense to limit production to a number that small.
They have to continuously stop production on the Viper due to lack of sales, so I see the reluctance to over-produce the Hellcat.
However, with a $60k entry tag, it's a lot more affordable than the Viper. The price tag alone should produce sales.
They've also put a TON of buzz out there on the web, print, and television. Why spend all that money on an ad campaign, and then limit the revenue and profits the Hellcat would produce by scarcely producing it?
 
Imagine that this was 1967 and everyone was jazzed about the upcoming 1968 road runner having the Hemi. And then hearing a rumour that Hemi production would be limited to only 3000 road runners. Would it have mattered? There was no limit, but only 1009 of them ended up being sold.
