It looks like Chris Birdsong has been bitten by the third generation Charger bug!

I saw a video today of Chris Birdsong buying a third generation Charger R/T! I was just like him a die hard second generation Charger guy, with the exception of the occasional E body or ten, until I started hanging out with Gary and Pam and the third generation Chargers and Plymouth cars started to grow on me like a fungus that won't go away! At one point I had nine third generation Chargers and a 71 Plymouth! That's how it starts!

That's kind of what happened to me, the second generation Chargers started getting too expensive and harder to find, and third generation Chargers were plentiful and somewhat affordable.

Being bitten by the 3rd generation Charger bug is not a bad thing.

I sold two 71 Chargers, gave a third 71 Charger away and sold a super solid 72 Charger. I also sold a 71 Satellite and a 72 Satellite and parted out a 72 Road Runner parts car,so I am getting the third generation addiction problem under control.

I have owned one triple green 71 Charger 500. It was a Texas car and had absolutely zero rust anywhere. I should have kept that car. The only thing I hate is the tail lights on 71 500's and R/T's though.

I think the taillights are fantastic, they have more detail than any other taillights from the muscle car era.

I like the RT taillights too. My buddy bought his 1971 Charger not long after I bought my '70 back in the late 80's. He later added the bulge hood, Go wing, RT doors and the RT taillights to an otherwise plain-Jane '71 Charger. He also replaced the original column shift with a console.

I think the '71 R/T tail lights are the best as well. The only other car with a better *** end is a '70 Challenger.
