It looks like Chris Birdsong has been bitten by the third generation Charger bug!

The third generation Chargers drive like a larger more refined E body. They feel completely different than driving a 66 to 70 B body csr.

I saw a video today of Chris Birdsong buying a third generation Charger R/T! I was just like him a die hard second generation Charger guy, with the exception of the occasional E body or ten, until I started hanging out with Gary and Pam and the third generation Chargers and Plymouth cars started to grow on me like a fungus that won't go away! At one point I had nine third generation Chargers and a 71 Plymouth! That's how it starts!

Can you blame him, they are cool cars. My aunt had a 72 S/E probably around 40 years ago. She knew I liked it and was looking for a newer car back then. She was going to give me her Charger, but typical my luck, someone ran a stop sign near her house in Brooklyn and hit her in the driver's door. She never gave me the opportunity to look at the car before ins bought it back. It was green with a black interior with buckets and a console.

The third generation Charger in his latest video is a green 71 Charger R/T that is super solid, matching numbers are relatively straight and complete.
It's crazy the owner had some parts stolen off the car on an AFB, I think near Vegas. It's cool he had the prior owner come over and help him with the car.

I too am warming to Gen IIIs. Especially the Charger. I've never owned one. Only Gen II Plymouths.

I'm not going out of the way to hunt, but if I ran across? I wouldn't have any buyer's remorse. (Come to think of it. I've never had "Buyer's Remorse." Selling? Every single time!)
It would be hard to turn down a 72 with hideways with buckets and a console.

Birdsong had a 73 Charger SE but the views for that car didn’t get very many hits so he stopped making videos on it and sold it off. People are still sleeping on third Gen Chargers so there is some time left before the price goes up. I think the third gen chargers look great and will grab on later this year.
73 and up just aren't as nice as a 71-72. Having said that, if I came across one cheap, I would probably take it and use it as a dale E driver.

My friend Marvin told me that if i ever drove a 71 i'd fall in love with them and he was right, As far as looks go they are a little trickier to make look good I think. Have to get the colour and wheels right and shiny paint is important. If a 3rd gen is dull green or brown with F78X14's on it, dont expect everyone to love it,

I don't know, that blue one you posted looks pretty damn good.

I sold two 71 Chargers, gave a third 71 Charger away and sold a super solid 72 Charger. I also sold a 71 Satellite and a 72 Satellite and parted out a 72 Road Runner parts car,so I am getting the third generation addiction problem under control.

I have to say, it's not a bad addiction. It just takes up allot of space and like any other addiction can empty your wallet.

I have a 73 Charger too.

'72 - '74 Chargers are great as long as you remove those fugly el-crappo plastic sidemarker warts...like you've done here. :) I think that detail alone would stop me from considering anything but a '71. Maybe that sounds quite Petty...

I used a step drill, then welded up the two mounting holes and dressed them out with a little filler and installed 68 Charger marker lights. The bulb sockets press right into the 68 marker lights. A simple way to get rid of the generic Harbor Freight trailer market lights Chrysler used from 72 on.

It was very cool that Chris asked the previous owner to come over and help get the car running again and let him drive the car around again!

If I ran across a 71 Charger R/T or Super-bee, BB car 383 or 440
& it wasn't a rust bucket or filled with dents & animal feces
for a decent price, with most of it there, so I didn't have to hunt down all the lil' crap
'for years'... I'd be tempted for damn sure...

But,
there's 'No Room at the Inn' (my garage), there's 'only room out in the Manger' (my carports),
it is Christmas time after all...
Merry Christmas everyone

I picked up my '71 Charger back around 1985 when nobody wanted them. Originally went to looks at a 1974 model listed for $150, but it sold before I got there. On the way home I spotted the '71 Charger 500 in front of a house with flat tires. I took a chance and asked if it was for sale. A week later the owner called me and sold it for $550.
One plus was this was the first vehicle I had with front disc brakes.
