I've hit my head on it for the last time....

I'd rather have a bump/gash in my head than a hood laying flat against my windscreen

As soon as I read the title, I suspected that was what you where talking about. Been there, done that (as recently as this morning).

The Mangusta engine bonnets were killers. The front lower corners, that meet door when down, are Sharp. When wngs are up, it elevates those corners to(i'm 5' 8") eye/forehead level. I stabbed my forehead several times, as well as others doing same. So i had (alloy) the corners cut to generous radius, then affixed cut off corner to the door frame area & bosy worked....it really looked more correct than a bare corner & ended the injury problem.

Mexico City, 1969, 38 Buick with a straight eight,, scenario,, American Friends with Mexican Native Friends jambing along DF freeway in Their Buick, hibachi burning on rear floor, fresh mortar & pestal garden chilis, burning tortillas on hibachi, passing litres of Carta Blanca beer & fat assed bombers, we can barely see from the hot salsa & the effing hood flies open slamming flat back against windshield post....at that moment all eight heads simultaneously dive so We can look through crack between hood & cowl(wish i had that on video).
No further incident, managed to get it hauled down & pulled over, shut hood & roped it. Those were some daze down there.
