I know we have a thread for shipwrecks but couldn't find one for regular non-sunk ships to put this one in.
I thought I'd throw this up: the USS Northampton. A converted Cruiser laid down in 1944, this ship was reconfigured to be used as a floating command center in case of a nuclear war. Complete with pressurized cabins and decontamination salt water washdown systems, it was packed with all the latest radio and command gear needed to direct military plans as needed. You're looking at what was the tallest communications mast in the navy. And at 38 mph. (33 knots) it could get to most places fairly quickly.
