Been thinking of replacing my 3 y/o red cap repro battery with something else.
I looked at Die Hard Gold, which has a free 3 year replacement, but it is 9" tall and my J hooks
just about fit my current 8" tall battery. I'd like to know if someone makes/sells longer hold down hooks
so I can use a taller battery. I've looked, but have been unable to find any.

Or, can someone suggest a replacement that is about 8" tall? Seems those red cap repro's are not available where I've checked,
and I'd rather not pay $250 again.
I saw an appropriately sized Interstate at Costco, but the terminals were on the wrong side, and I'd have to turn the
battery backwards to fit, and still don't think the neg. ground strap is long enough to reach, and I don't like how that would look.
So what are you guys using??
Thanks.

interstate sells the right battery for the car, I would buy that one, I have one and they are awesome...

As for the j hooks, you could have them made or make them with threaded rod, or get some smooth rod and weld extensions on yours, cut and add a piece in the middle, BUT I hate using a different battery, I did it in a nove and shorted it out on the hook lol, what a mess, I was younger and learned the hard way, to check stuff before slamming the hood...

Buy a group 27 from NAPA,..

Yes, l don't understand this modern hand wringing about batteries. Batteries "used" to be known by group size, Ford had an "F" after them as the mounting flange on bottom and reversed posts made them "different". Group 22, 24, 27 were traditional "group" sizes. Same sized case in "side post" was 72, 74, and 77
