I took the '72 Satellite Sebring Plus shopping to a Mexican WalMart this morning. Left early but just six blocks from the house the engine shut off suddenly (gas gauge has been on the blink for the second time lately). I carried five-gallons in the trunk for just such an occasion. After pouring in the gas, I check my pockets to find I had forgotten my wallet at home so I returned for it. If I had not run out of gas, I would have made a twenty-mile round trip to the store for nothing. Before I left this morning, I fixed the broken nozzle tube on the gas can with masking tape which prevented the gasoline from spilling on the ground.

Yesterday, I made a forty-five mile round trip for nothing, from one house to the other. I thought about it, about seven miles in, but I had two full keyrings in my pocket. One of em gotta have the right key, right?

Nope. Needed the third key ring. Shoot.

All was not lost however. On the way home, I remembered yesterday was the monthly car show at the NHRA museum, so I took in the show. I sure wouldn't have remembered otherwise. Saw this sport satellite there.
It had caltacs on it, but I forgot to look for a Dana. I'm ashamed of myself.

If you are going to keep one of those attrocious cans at least fix it up to function right!

You reminded me of a saying that my flight instructor said often. “You can never have too much gas on board…unless you are on fire!”
