I thought my Axalta Prep Sol 3919SM would have wiped the marks away instantly, but it was basically ineffective. I resorted to an old bottle of Blue Magic Road Tar & Bug Gel. I applied it and rubbed it off maybe ten times (lost count) and finally got the marks almost faded away, but not quite. I began to see a little yellow paint show up on the towel, so I decided to quit for now. Two different Grand Kids, five and six years old. You can see they have different artistic styles.

My '71 Satellite was vandalized all over with some type of permanent marker back around 1976. I used a brand of bug and tar remover that was very high in petroleum distillates. It worked with a lot of elbow grease and I followed up with Johnson's paste floor wax which also contains petroleum distillates IIRC.

I can still smell that stuff. :p

I wasn't the only one vandalized by the "artists".
 
My dad came home for lunch one day in his 53 Med Blue lacquer metallic (not OEM) 4dr Plymouth.
I had seen the virtues of the wonder Cleaner Comet on the TV many times.
I decided to wash his car with the stuff, but was puzzled why the more I scrubbed, the browner the car got (the primer was brown).
My Dad came out to leave and saw the car, I was petrified, and he chuckled, said the car was needing a new paint job.
I had a great Dad.
To the OP, keep the pics, the kids one day will cherish them. :lol:

I’ve never touched dry paint with acetone, it readily removes permanent marker, but I assume it is detrimental to paint.
 
You won't believe what I'm using to remove old, painted "custom" pinstripes from my 928.




Easy-off oven cleaner. I apply it with a Q-Tip and then rub with a white Mars eraser. Followup with soapy rag, wet rag, and then a dry rag.

Rag=clean cotton fabric
 
I’ve heard Easy off also removes old lettering on trucks... that sign paint is tough

Different artistic styles but the same red stripes on their rear ends.
 
Built a deck for my son who lives next door he had his girls write there names on the side of the joists under the decking, well of course the little one 4 y.o. continued her artistry on the outside of the deck on the deck ribbon board. I told him he could flip the board over, he said just leave it. good dad. :thumbsup:
 
I use alcohol, if it's a sharpe marker. Watch using oven cleaner, if it gets next to a paint edge, it's coming up.
 
i recall the car getting paint but like eldubb i do not remember if its single stage or base clear.
Ethire way I would try the buffing compound , say a 3000 grit to start.
Should clean right off.
 
This will work, but it takes time.
