Killer bees

Does anyone remember when this was a major concern ?

Africanized bees?? I always thought the "killer bees" were the ones that give off a scent (pheramone?) if attacked, and therefore others would be alerted and could potentially swarm. I guess that's the same thing Kiwi's saying if you think about it. :poke::lol:

I do. In the late '70s and early '80s. They were in Mexico and starting to move north into Texas.
What happened? Never heard much about it after 1981 or so.
They do have fire ants in Georgia. When my nephew and nieces were little they were really worried about fire ants. I laughed at them 'til a fire ant bit me.

The "true" killer bees, has happened a couple times at least that recall. Seems like maybe every 10 years or so. The comedy back then was great.

As for as real killer bees we have several attacks every year down here. Couple of years ago we were 4wheeling in a rocky wash so it was slow going when a swarm got pissed off we had to run away and get the vehicles out after dark. Several people got some stings before getting away.

Sweet little Mary Ann was in a movie called, Super Sucker about vacuum cleaner salesmen...but...she found a new use for one of the attachments.

She still looks good at 81.
Ginger, OTOH hasn't looked good for a long time.
