Stumbled onto this video this morning. Pretty interesting and kinda sad. The guy made sense of the sale, though.


 
My ship, USS Independence was towed from Bremerton to Brownsville to be cut up in 2017. It was quite sad. There were lots of memories of my time on board.
 
I've been watching those videos and learning a lot.
Yes, there's a lot going on to have a museum ship from the Navy.
Like there's on JUST ONE place on the ship you can actually see the keel.
And the thickest armor plating is on the conning tower.
He says the people inside would survive a direct hit.
But it would turn them into jelly.
He crawls through the barrel of a 16 inch.
Not something I would do.

The Kennedy was a POS while it was still in service. It was operating with compartments that were open to the sea as I understand.
It was flat beat up and worn out.

No, Sir. It was CHRISTENED in Dec 2019. Launched in Oct 2019. Yet to be commissioned.
That isn't due for a couple years. It isn't even complete.
