Law Enforcement apprehends a ‘Bad Guy’ FBBO member at Carlisle

Looking forward to attending next week, but the GTX is staying home. After last year, I feel like it has a bullseye on it.
Definitely good to know that they are this way… I’ll be sure to keep an eye open.
Sucks you got hassled
Looking forward to meeting everyone though!

What I can tell you is this: the quality of hires today is significantly inferior to what qualifications were required 50 years ago.

He just wanted to see the car.

40 years ago I got pulled over by a Tulsa cop. I went thru the only traffic circle in Tulsa and he didn't like something I did. It was 11 PM or thereabouts. First time I ever got pulled over, so I was kinda nervous. He asked if he could sit in my car, a '67 LTD. I said sure. He then proceeded to tell me that when he was a younger cop that was his squad car, a '67 LTD. He went on about how the cars would do 140 MPH from the factory, and their shop mechanic made some mods and got it up to 160 or so. I didn't question his numbers, I was too busy sweating. He said "Man, this brings back memories."

He never did write me a ticket. To this day I think he just wanted to see the car.

I was a P/O in Chicago for 33 years (1971 - 2004),
Unless the supervisor is on the scene you have TOTAL discresion on issuing a citation.
And when I was instructed to issue a citation I put the supervisor's name on the citation as complianing witness, and if the supervisor didn't show up in court the citation was dismissed for "No Complaining Witness"
and yes... there are some A$$holes out there...

I was following the GTX from the Hotel to a favorite BBQ Restaurant. We got to a 4 way stop sign. I noted to my navigator that the right rear brake light on GTX is out. LEO was on my right and next to go. He turned right to follow GTX. Next turn was a right, so no turn indicator. He lit him up at once! I acted like I didn’t know the GTX and parked nearby for a few quick pics. I was so relieved that this Outlaw finally had the Long Arm catch up with him.

Maybe it was 2 lefts. Not sure. See the other pedestrian taking pics too? Also, GTX Driver keeping both hands visible to Officer. Maybe he has done this before.

I’m bringing a different car this year too. Guilt by association. Last year I borrowed my old Orange Car.

:poke:

The real story is that GTX sped away after the officer approached the car.
It was later found in downtown Bellefonte, driven by the GTX owner’s accomplice, a 2-year old from NY.

Later that day the owner was located and apprehended as well.
Thankfully they are both behind bars now, where they can no longer perform such heinous crimes.

He's bringing beer to the tent at Carlisle, so I'll over look any moving violations he may, or may not have done.

I saw a nice gto today. 1970 i believe. And one of the taillights were burned out. I see a lot of classic vehicles that have issues with lights.
This gto didn't have to have its lights on. But maybe he wants to get pulled over. The worst in my opinion is 69 and 70 charger taillights, such a beautiful car! And so many with mismatched bulbs or wired wrong or burned out. Why?

In the great deep blue state of CT cops cannot pull anyone over anymore for "defective equipment" such as a tail light. the legislature decided it was racial profiling.

Interesting situation with local enforcement in Carlisle. Officer told me he was under pressure from his supervisor to write equipment defects as moving violations. Then told me to fight it, and if the judge didn't throw it out, he would reduce the charge to a non moving violation. My passenger with me at the time was a former state trooper, and he was really unhappy with the way things happened.
That's the problem with a lot of these small boroughs in PA. They usually have a few full time guys and then several part timer's. The overall quality of the individuals applying for these positions IMO is substandard, and has been for many years. But a lot of departments, including PSP have been lowering the standards to encourage substandard people to apply. Oh, too many people are out of shape and can't make the sit-up requirement, no problem we will just remove the sit-up requirement.

You can't write an equipment issue as a moving violation. The PA Vehicle Code defines the difference with the applicable sections. Traffic stop conversations like the one above are from cops that are issuing tickets for stats to justify how they spent their time on shift and keep a supervisor off their back instead of actually doing police work.
