Lets talk Coffee

If I wanna spend too much, the local Stumptown Roasters has the best. However, I usually buy Folger's Black Silk, but just about any S. American dark roast will do. The African coffees tend to be a little lighter and, uh...fruitier? I think Jack in the Box has the best drive-thru coffee.

Anything 100% Arabica. No robusta blended stuff. Whole bean freshly ground is the best as some have mentioned. Percolator gets a higher yield of the flavor from the bean compared to automated machines.

I like fresh ground coffee beans, dark roasted preferably, it's a local supplier, not sure where they get the beans... but I buy Yuban & Maxwellhouse, in Dark or French Roast allot too... I quit drinking coffee for a few years a while back, about the same time I quit smoking, it didn't change my morning routine or how I felt or looked what so ever, it didn't seem to affect me at all, just wanted to break a habit/cycle {quitting smoking mainly, because I would start with a cup of coffee & a cig almost every day, the cigs are a nasty habit, I thought it would help me to quit both at the same time & I still don't smoke either}, I wanted to make sure it wasn't an unhealthy addiction... But, now & before, I like my coffee black & really strong, especially when it's fresh, there's almost nothing worse than a weak cup of coffee... I don't really do breakfast, a big morning cup of Joe is great, all I seem to need, I do an early 10:30 lunch/brunch & 5:00 dinner only now as I'm getting older... I also keep some premade coffee in the fridge for ice coffee sometime too, it's great with real creams over ice or a little Baily's, late on at night... I also tried the decaf stuff, wanted to be healthier {that's a scam too} I didn't like the flavor as much, caffeine doesn't seem to affect me, in an adverse way, like it has on some people I know, I can drink a cup & go to sleep... There's actually a study on coffee, being a beneficial or a healthy drink, if not abused {like they say, anything in moderation} & IMHFO there's nothing like the smell of a good ol'cup of Joe in the AM... I'm healthy & always have been...

Personally, I hate coffee. Just the small of it makes me want to leave the room and i just can't fathom the infatuation of that beverage that most people seem to have.

I'm not a fan of coffee either . . . but here's my story . . .

Growing up in Michigan, you never knew what the weather would do - so don't blink. Went to a little league baseball game ( I was about 9-10 ) wearing a short sleeve shirt. A cold front blew through and the temps dropped 10-20 degrees - very noticeable. The only thing that my dad had with him was coffee - and I was cold . . . so I took a swig of it to warm up . . .

Well, the swig did not last long, I spit it out, and I've never touched it again . . . my entire life . . .

So that's how I got to never drink coffee . . .

I'm told it's an "acquired" taste . . . but I've never found it worth my while to find the time to acquire it ! ! !

Oh well . . . ( smile )

ILMFAO, thanks Pops... OMG that was pretty sick, but pretty good too... must have been from some other country

l expected Waaaay more pictures of girls serving coffee in french maids outfits from this thread actually but I agree the 8' O clock is not bad and fits my coffee budget which is not huge.

Coffee just needs to have caffine in suffucient quantity, be hot and wet and brown and and ready to drink when I get up and if it smells good that's not a negative

Hey, I originally posted that a while back. :angryfire: But I hate tea as well.

Saw this and thought it was quite appropriate and too good not to share for this thread. Quite conflicted on whether or not I want my coffee coming from there.

My brother in law drove an UPS truck. One stop on his route was Peets. He got freebies regularly. He made a pot of the Kona, I think it was. OMG ! I was doing backflips ! Until I found out it was $35 a lb. he sends a care package on occasion. Be sad when he retires.
