Here's a truly heartwarming story about the bond formed between a little 4-year-old girl and some construction workers that will make you believe that we all can make a difference when we give a child the gift of our time.

A young family moved into a house, next to a vacant lot. One day, a construction crew turned up to start building a house on the empty lot.

The young family's 4-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and spent much of each day observing the workers.

Eventually the construction crew, all of them "gems-in-the-rough," more or less, adopted her as a kind of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had coffee and lunch breaks, and gave her 20 little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important.

At the end of the first week, they even presented her with a pay envelope containing ten dollars.

The little girl took this home to her mother who suggested that she take her ten dollars "pay" she'd received to the bank the next day to start a savings account.

When the girl and her mom got to the bank, the teller was equally impressed and asked the little girl how she had come by her very own pay check at such a young age.

The little girl proudly replied, "I worked last week with a real construction crew building the new house next door to us."

"Oh my goodness gracious," said the teller, "and will you be working on the house again this week, too?"

The little girl replied, "I will, if those ******** at Home Depot ever deliver the fuckin' drywall.."

Thanks. When my youngest daughter was about 3 she walked up to me & my wife and asked if she could say a few simple not to bad words and we said yes. She then asked if she could say Mother f****r. After the shock was over we told her absolutely not. She then turned to walk away and said I will just say moto foto as she walked away. We did not know what to say to that at first. I have watched who is around in the barn when I am working on things after that.

The first time I said the F word was when I was 9 and playing with some friends (wonder where they heard it). My sister just happened to be within ear shot and came over to slap me for it and I said 'what the F was that for you F'er' AND she slapped me again and it started all over lol. Anyways, instead of telling me it was a bad word she tells mom and dad during dinner that evening and dad immediately beat me. Had no idea it was a bad word. Really! I just thought it sounded cool. At dinner she goes "guess what David said today" with that smug look and talk she's always had whenever she was telling on me and wham wham wham.

me a mouthful of pepper or lye soap and when that didn't work anymore it was a razer strap

......that....was....good.

The deterrent of choice for my mother was Fels Naptha scraped vigorously into our teeth.

Nasty tasting stuff ... :eusa_silenced:

A mate of mine who also works for my company told me a story like this about his son, who was 7 or 8 at the time.

They were driving to an ice hockey game here, and his son asked, "Can I use curse words at the game tonight?"

My friend says no, and the conversation ended.

Cut to some time in the first period and some older guy in front of them, stands up and shouts (in Finnish) "What the **** are you doing Ref!"

My friends son turns to him and says.."That's the word I was going to use."

LOL
