Hey guys. I'm new to the forum and more of a Ford guy (restored 5 Stangs and currently restoring a 70 Mach 1 428 SCJ, 4 speed car). 40 years ago my dad had a 66 Plymouth Satellite in Michigan. It was sold by his brother while he was in Vietnam. After he helped put me through college and now law school I'd like to try and return the favor and track this car down and hopefully pick it up for him.

He thinks he has the VIN somewhere but doesn't know where off hand. I was wondering if any of you have had any luck locating a vehicle without the VIN. I know it was a 426 Max Wedge Stage III, 4 speed with console, blue on blue car. The car was located in Harper Woods, Michigan and would have been registered there back in 67 or 68. I'm guessing the car is either grossly out of my price range today or crushed but I'd still like to know if I can somehow find it. Thanks for the help guys!

This is a good place to start , Searches like this can take some time and most of these never end till you finally give up on them, but sometimes you get lucky , and sometimes you find some really good stuff along the way, VIN are a big help, but some states drop them out of the system after years of inactivity. when did the car under go an engine change ?

Yeah, I know the VIN is going to be the big thing. I'm hoping my mom can find the photocopy of the title he said he kept.

As I understand it, the 426 was in the car when he purchased it. I can't remember if he picked the car up from a dealership used lot or if he got it from Plymouth since his dad worked for Chrysler at the time. I know it was used when he got it.

I know with the Mustangs that you can get a Marti report (options, where sold, how and when it left the factory, etc) for post-67 vehicles since Kevin Marti purchased all the old records from Ford. Is there anybody I could contact for Mopars that would have sales records, etc and could give you a run down on the car?

If you have any old pics of it showing the license plates, you might have some luck with the DMV using the plate number

That is a fantastic idea actually. I know I have one picture of a partial on the plate and that might help. Thanks 69 Runner, great idea!
