68 Charger 4 speed…. Ive done an internet search, and finding different lengths?
One site said 62” is correct
Another listed 80”?
To be honest, if the longer will work, it should give a lot more room to pull gage cluster out for repairs? But will it be too long?

@koosh, the 62 inch cable is the correct one. Make sure that it has the clip on connection on the end for the speedometer head and the screw on connection for the transmission. I would be afraid that the longer one would have too much length and excess which would be difficult to work with once you start to put the dash back into place. Should be around $40 at some of the restoration vendors.

Thank you sir

My '69 Charger (4-speed) returned from restoration missing its original speedo cable, which apparently was removed and lost or disposed of. I need to replace it and noted the previous discussions about the importance of the correct-length cable. Year One has a cable (P/N NG488) claiming to be a replacement for '69 Chargers without cruise control, Chrysler part number 4897646AA 3592360, 67 inches long end-to-end. There is no mention of automatic or 4-speed transmission. I dimly remember a thread here where someone measured their original cable to be 63 inches, but cannot find it now. Anyone know the correct length and availability?
If the Year One cable is correct, then time to order is limited since I have a discount coupon I can use up to 2 May.

Thanks!

Not sure if this helps, but for my 68 charger 4 speed, i bought this one-fit fine…

Thanks for the response, koosh. JEGS states "Fits select" cars but does not state what "select" means. Also says "See Fitment Tab for all applications" but they have that tab pretty well hidden. I can't find it. I'm really confused about this subject since there are all kinds of speedo cables of differing lengths. Would really be nice to know the exact length of my missing original without trial and error on a replacement.
