A couple questions if I may, dealing with expansion plugs. Brass or steel? Shallow or normal? Any benefit/hazard either way?

I prefer steel, and deep or shallow depending on the application. I have seen too many brass plugs installed incorrectly, so they fell out or leak. I disagree that they (brass) seal better, as I thing how they are installed dictates how well they will seal. I used to use Permatex non-hardening sealer, and had leakers. I talked to my friend who runs the other shop in town, and he said that he uses a Loc-Tite/Heinkel product. It is called "Core plug Sealant", and I will tell you, plugs DON'T leak.. This stuff is the tits... I will say that it is more than likely too expensive for the normal layman at about $200 for a 250mL bottle. If anyone is interested, it is Loc-Tite 540 under part number 54041
