I sometimes think, in fact I am quite sure, the taxes on most everything, puts a damper on productivity and spending.
We spend most of the money on health and welfare.
Quite a few things have doubled in price since Covid.
Coffee, ferry tickets not quite, $23 to $37.50, plywood about tripled during Covid. I bought most of my supplies before the prices went up.
The folks in NZ must have had some stunning price increases, compared to yesteryear. A meat pie used to cost 10 cents, or one shilling.
