yeah a lot of the Street Outlaws guys use them too
for their so-called "Street Cars"
I am a fan of the Street Outlaws shows and most of the "players", even though they've gone to full tube chassis cars they call "street cars".
If they need a portable charger in between rounds because they have no alternator, and if their cooling system is barely enough to make it through a 1/8th or 1/4 mile before overheating, THAT isn't what I consider a "street car" whether or not it has a license plate!
The rules for Drag Week, OTOH, now those are definitely "street cars" as they have to travel long distances in between rounds.
I am and was very happy to see the "Gone Girls" Street Outlaws series as those cars were certainly more like really fast STREET cars, and I also was really stoked to see JJ and his "big headed" wife Tricia running their
68 Dodge Dart w/a 440 on spray. Tricia won 1st place in a 16 car shootout, going against a box Nova driven by Precious (the Queen of the streets) that obviously by her being in the final was a fast contender.
The Dart had a factory split back bench seat and full interior, so the cars the girls ran and most of their competitors were the "most street" cars I've seen on any Street Outlaws shows in a long time.
Having met a lot of the Memphis crew at a
real street race after the No Prep Kings races at Memphis International Dragway, NO cameras, NO cops, same road by the container yard as they usually show on the MSO programs, I can tell you they were very nice and friendly people, when we met and talked briefly with them on the street that night.
My wife enthusiastically told me to buy VIP access tickets to the upcoming No Prep Kings racing event coming up on one of 3 drag strips I'd consider my "home" racetracks. No Problem Raceway is the venue, and although now where I live puts Gulfport Dragway much closer, my last house location west of New Orleans made No Problem Raceway as close as the other 2, and I used to enjoy going there.
Here's 2 videos of me at
NPR, one handing a newer (at the time) R/T Charger his *** at the line, but barely clipping the W at the finish. I'm in my 89 Chrysler (Mitsubishi) Conquest TSi, 2.6L 4cyl factory tiny 13a turbo w/manual boost control pushing the boost from 10.5 factory to about 17 pounds. That car was so much fun to drive. The 2nd video was me at
NPR on my H-D V-Rod, trying to get into the 11s that the motorcycle was certainly capable of, but I wasn't good enough to get her there. The 3rd video is me at Gulfport Dragway in my wife's GTO right after putting the 3 modified Rochester 2bbl carbs on and trying to dial them in. Still have some timing and carb tuning to do, but I was good enough to dust the newer Camaro that lined up next to me.
Finally is a beautiful 71 Challenger R/T, 426 Hemi, full interior, "typical" high performance tweaks done to the factory Hemi. WOW! That car was consistent and went home with a very lucky new owner that day who had just bought it.
Enjoy! (I sure did!)
