I have a very mint set of Wheel Vintiques 15" Magnum 500 wheels, so I ordered some magnum 500 center caps at PG Classics last sale. The retainers don't go all the way in and the bolts will not reach the cap. I had some NOS center caps, so I tried one of those. Same problem. So I'm saying that the wheel center isn't big enough for the retainer to go all the way in and seat. I know the tolerance is tight from working with some 14" road wheels a few days ago. Has anyone else had this problem with their wheels?

I can solve the problem in a couple of ways, but I'm just trying to get some feedback.

I think all the repop center caps are based on the 72 and later cap.
They were taller, yet the retainer is the same,,,just requires longer bolts

I had a problem with my new wheel caps and stripped out a thread on the 1st bolt cuz the friggin bolts supplied were too long and the threads weren't threaded all the way in the holes. Near a quarter inch no threads. Difficult to identify the problem trying to hold the back retainer in place and align the cap with a hand on each side of the tire. Yeah, should have checked closer; but ya might expect the stuff to fit!
I bitched about it to the supplier more than once and got zero reply. I tapped the holes deeper and got new bolts from a hardware store that were the CORRECT size.

I got longer bolts for mine as well. Same problem here.

Longer bolts will solve the problem. I think the actual problem is not the center caps. If the retainers went all the way into the wheel without sticking in the centers almost 3/8's of a inch before seating everything would be good. I put the blame on the wheels. NOS retainers and caps are doing the same thing on these wheels.

Hmm - guess I had exactly the opposite problem from the supplier I used. Go figure. Those two should get together to supply the right size bolts...

I purchased a set, Wheel Vintiques 500s, probably 2 years ago now. No issues with the caps or wheels.

I have a set of factory Ford Magnum 500's on Charger #2. I had to grind the I.D. of the center about a 1/4" larger to get the Mopar center caps to fit.
