Well im pretty sure it happend at the first meet I bring the car to. The next day i gasp when i see two scratches in the Drivers side Quarter. No doubt someone getting too close and rubbing it or someone not watching their overzealous kid......or just some cowardly s*#@bag who thought it would be funny to do something like that. ill get to that in a mnute! They look like surface scratches, and im thinking a scratch remover cream will buff them out. Ive used gs27 in the past and it worked, but I cant find it in the stores and dont feel like waiting to order it. Anyone else have any other products they suggest that are a one time application/easy to use.? Thats what i get for walking around for 5 min to check out the other cars. Ive also noticed that parents arent watching their kids at these things. It aint the kids fauls. My 5 year old wants to touch every car and get in and pretend to drive, and thats what their supposed to do, their kids!!!! But I keep an eye on my son and remind him that we cannot touch the cars that arent ours and to respect them and their owners. But its some of the parents who are on the phone looking the other way while their kid is literally climbing on the car. Mabye those parents dont own one of them so they cant appricate the time and effort it requires to restore and maintain these cars. Needless to say im pissed, so any helpfull tips on how to quickly and eaisly repair this would be great!

Well, before you jump to conclusions, take a deep breath and relax. It could have happened anywhere, but don't let it ruin your show going experience. Try going to the parts store and getting some Meguiar's quick detailer and a clay bar. Follow the directions and it should clean up just fine. Follow up with a good waxing just to give it a layer of protection.
If it makes you feel any better, my daughter, 2 at the time, took an old license plate and tapped it against the door of my GSS Demon repeatedly while playing until I saw what she was doing. She didn't know any better and I actually laughed when it happened thinking how most people would react.

We had our '71 Dodge Charger at the Mopars on the Mississippi Show and a vendor selling a motorized mini bike let a 9 year old, who had never driven one before, test drive it. The boy panicked, lost control of the motorized bike, and ran it into the side of our car. He scratched our front fender, driver's door, rocker panel, and dented the wheelwell molding. Just under $2000 to repair it. The 9 year old's father said he would cover the cost of the repairs, but he didn't. We had to turn it in to our insurance company, and pay the $100 deductible cost. I bet there won't be any bikes, scooters, or motorized vehicles at that show next year.

3M scratch remover works great. It's clear coat safe and will take out the scratches as long as they aren't through the color coat. Advance Auto has it in there paint and body repair section... Pepboys has a larger selection of the 3M products too. The only 3M product I wasn't real happy with was there wax. After you use the scratch remover you'll need to wax it.

I used the 3m and some gs 27 and its pretty much gone. youd have to be really looking to see it now. I know accidents happen, but you gotta know when your too close or if you have something on your person that can cause a scratch, just be aware!

I know for a fact that it happened that night, and there were two long ones, so i im pretty sure someone purposley scratched it, but whatever i can deal with how it looks now!

If the scartch is real deep you can sand the are with 100 grit, fill the scratch with spot putty, (real smooth and much thinner then bondo) block the scratch out with 1000 and air brush in some color, then clear. Wet sand it with 1500-2000 and buff it out.

car shows are a risk because you are dealing with the general public...keeping in mind most of them have no clue what goes into cars.....dont you love the people who bring ther lovely dogs to car shows ?
