So, I'm just wondering, I have a 68 GTX with power brakes. Everything I read says that You
need this little rubber Doo-Dad for only Manual brakes but not Power? Do's I be correct?
Thanks!

Every brake master cylinder post I've seen on this forum has always stated "don't forget it and don't use a piece of rubber hose in it's place". No reason not to believe that mine coming apart wasn't OE...

Look what DR Diff calls it.

Not in the FSM For power brakes, Read the booster and master cylinder assembly instructions. never seen one on a car with power brakes. Most factory disc brake master cylinders are not cut for that keeper to go into.

There is no need for it on power brakes, the rod can not be pulled out of the back of the master cylinder, the booster keeps it from doing that.

As we know it is to keep the pushrod from coming out of the master cylinder piston on a manual brake car.

No need for it with p/b ... the purpose on manual brakes is to make sure that the pushrod doesn't pop out of the m/c for any reason. This is not an issue with p/b since the booster is betwixt the pedal and the m/c

That's good.. LOL...like I said above I have no recollection of the master ever being changed that it didn't come off the line that way... and with a bit of picture surfing I know what I did going back together...

That accordion boot doesn’t go in a power brake car either. And there is no machined spot on the pushrod for the retainer to slide over, just a small space for the adjustable end to travel.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking reading Dr. Diff's ad for the "Manual" brake push rod retainer! I'd
hate to put one in and then pry on the Master and screw up my booster! Their big money. Thanks
for the input! I'm gonna go put my Master on without one and be done with it.

My 66 Satellite with PB no rubber grommet. There an acorn like to adjust clearance with master piston. Spare non-hemi booster.
