Manual brake pushrod retainer/rubber grommet

so I'm getting around to my front disc conversion (Right Stuff) and at the time of purchase, it was without the MC and proportioning valve and brake rod. I sourced the same MC by all accounts (Cardone 13-1571) w/15/16" bore as well as the adjustable pushrod. I put a call to Right stuff to confirm no need for the pushrod retainer, which they agree. I don't see room for one as well but just wanted to ask here. The pushrod has a small PTFE band just after ball end.

The rubber retainer needs to be in the groove of the MC piston, then lube the ball end and push it into the piston. Should not come out by hand.

That PTFE (teflon) band will probably hold it in place. As a side note, you're going to have a lot of pedal travel with that 15/16 bore. Is that what was suggested?

there's physically no room for a rubber retainer, but figured somebody has already installed this kit and would know for sure.
As far as 15/16" bore, that's what the conversion kit comes with. I'm adding a 10lb residual valve (per Cass) to help eliminate that extra pedal travel.

Fyi Amazon carries the pushrod rubber retaining thingamabob! $12 but who cares about price at this point? Next day prime delivery

I imagine whoever made the pushrod made it with the intent to eliminate the that rubber insert - which always made getting the pushrod out a real bitch! But that was the whole point - to ensure the pushrod could not pull out by accident.

If you can insert the pushrod and then pull it out with little or no effort then I'd be inclined to get rid of the PTFE piece and use the rubber insert.

I've used windshield urethane. Put some in the hole. Then inset the rod. Let it cure.
