1969 gtx.....map light supposed -if that is the correct title--to the right of the heater controls just under the dash-near glove box--supposed to turn on when door opens?
I can turn it on from the switch at the light. Is this correct?

The pink wire for this map light i attached to the fuse box in correct spot per factory manual. I have an addt "yellow" wire that has a male plug in connector on it that was factory taped with the pink wire in same area....i did install a different harness under the dash from diff car....

Does this male plug in yellow wire--go to the glove box light? My gtx doesnt have glove box light..so i have this 'spare" wire on its own behind the glove box.

My dome light turns on when i open the door.....i am not getting juice to the console lights for some reason.........

Just these little gremlin issues sorting through on gtx rebuild...

Thanks!

When I first put a underdash wiring harness (from dealer) in late 70's I had all sorts of lights that were working that I had never seen before, like that glove box light.
Trace out that wiring, a little time and almost no money.

Does this help at all (Factory map light set up '69 roadrunner)?

You should be able to shut the map light on/off with the switch, only with the doors shut. When a door is open, the light will stay on no matter what. A little rule of thumb for the wiring under you dash...A pink wire typically is running +12V power to light somewhere in the car. A yellow wire is a ground for the interior lights. They are tied into the door jamb switches. The jamb switched complete the ground when a door is open.

It is not uncommon to end up with extra yellow wires or a pink wire here and there, especially if using a donor harness from another vehicle. Certain vehicles had different amenity options. Some had a buzzer for the lights, buzzer for the door or an interior light option package....So I wouldn't freak out if you have an extra yellow or pink wire or two, cause there's a possibility your car didn't have the same options.

As far as your console lights, you need to see if you have power from the pink wire to the console. If so, the yellow wire isn't making it to the jamb switch for some reason. Your jamb switch is obviously functioning because your dome light works. The orange wire in your console harness is for the light in the gear selector window. That would tie into the same plug the orange wire for the light in your radio, and orange wire for the light in your ignition switch does.

What is the console wire route once it goes under the seat and over the left door area? What is its final destination? I wonder if I am missing a connector near the dash area.
