Max wedge dilemma....

Nice looking motor Ron. I agree that todays tech far surpasses what MA Mopar did back in the day. I'm not looking for period correct or even close, just something that I am happy with and that turns heads up here in tiny Vermont. I will likely never race it or if I do maybe one or two passes, so I need it to be mildly nasty sounding and acting on the street. Thanks everyone for the info and opinions and Merry Christmas!!

I built one with stage 3 max heads 11.5 comp,.600 solid roller, pair of carters on a modified crossram. Some what steetable for around town, the gears kept me from traveling,4.88.Wish I still had it.A friend is putting one in a 66 belv.1.I would do it in a heart beat, nothing like the visual for brand x guys.

Yep, that's what I plan to do. I have about 6-8 months before i'll have to get the motor together so I have time to source parts.

We covered the street drivability of the max wedge pretty thoroughly in past posts. I can start my motor from stone cold and be motoring down the road in about 5 minutes. All it takes is getting some heat in the intake so the fuel mixture doesn't drop out of suspension. My short block is 440 based with REAL max wedge ported / polished heads and a REAL port matched factory cross ram. I'm sure if I replaced the cross ram with a single 4 barrel manifold I wouldn't have to wait the 5 minutes. Given the choice, I prefer to wait...lol

I don't mind waiting, it gives the onlookers more time to drool...

I guess what I was trying to say is build it like you want and then give it the Max Wedge look with the intake and manifolds. I did not mean to come off to strong and I appoligize if it sounded that way to anyone. And I hope you all have a Safe and Merry Christmass. ! Ron

Not at all Ron, I did not take it that way at all. Merry Christmas to you.
