meanwhile in Montana, some more I know nobody cares pictures

If I absolutely had to wrench outside today and not in 4 days when it will be above freezing, I would do it in short sessions. I would take all day to do it. I would put a propane torch to the bolts and calipers. I would take my tools in the house and let them warm up with me on my many warmup coffee breaks, then keep them buried in my bibs until needed. In these conditions, a guy might not notice that his finger tips are being damaged as he is trying to make headway. I had to do some outdoor work a couple days ago and I couldn't wear gloves. Within a couple minutes, my finger tips were starting to hurt, and I have never had frostbite. I toughed it out and when I finished a few minutes later, they were in pain and I was moving double time towards the house.

But going the other direction here. Its the usual weather. And every year is different.
Ill accept Global warming in the spring and summer. We only see about 4 months of nice weather then it goes for crap again. :)[/Q
4 months if we are lucky, last year we had snow in June and September

Thanks, I like that idea. I would love to implement that, but my son is perceptually impaired. He's a very good driver and he's understands the how & the why most of the time but gets confused & frustrated. I guarantee that he will be out there with me and if he sees me doing this stuff enough times, eventually, it will sink in. The safety factors involved are what I try to stress before we actually start the repair. He at the very least can pass me a wrench or something when I'm in an awkward position or he can pump the brakes when we are bleeding them, etc. He lacks the self confidence to actually attempt anything like this by himself. I have had him change his oil on his 93 Wrangler and such, with me watching, and does okay. Of course, the Jeep is lifted and you don't need to jack it up to do a lot of things under it. This one is an old PT Cruiser that we only recently acquired. We will be replacing the bushings on the lower control arms on it this spring. Not that difficult a job but the old man is finding more difficult to get up off the ground these days, LOL. :D
U would be like me and all other dads anyway watching him struggle and just get in there and end up doing it yourself lol

Not to make lite of the temps there, but I want to see some photos in Texas
that are -29 like I keep seeing on Ch 7 weather! BRRRRRRRR!
1989 was the last time it got pretty cold in southern Texas. The weather guessers are saying 15 degrees on Tuesday morning. Everything froze up at work....Exxon refinery and they had us out to repair leaks in cooling piping to the pumps etc. Thing is, you don't know what's going to leak until things thaw out! Morons running the show. Refineries do not do well here once the temps drop below 20.

The only good thing about this cold weather is the Emerald Ash Borer population
dies back alot because they can't survive the sub zero cold. My Ash trees will be
happy!

No thank I prefer my temps above freezing
most all of the time
I know cold I lived in Alaska for a couple years

I prefer temperate weather, with a lil' winter in small doses

not for months at a stretch

we get plenty of snow here too
we also get plenty of sunshine too

What part of Alaska and why?
I live in Anchorage for a short time
then Palmer inland some for a couple years
Palmer Drag, Polar Raceway then, right out the back of my property
I bought 100 acres & subdivided it (long story)
then sold it after the economy/housing crashed,
tons of people were leaving Alaska, property & housing
that was built for the influx, people had moved up there during an oil boom
all of a sudden there was a surplus of houses

I was working at (close) Prudhoe Bay for Tester Oil,
build barracks for guys, building oil derricks & drilling rigs
in the mid 80's, 16 days on 14 off for 3 stints a year
made pretty good $$$ for the mid 80's

no women & no booze back then, it was long days
12 on 4 off, 4 on 8 off, over & over again
I was into good $$ 'by the 3-4th day

paid for me to explore Alaska hunt & fish all over

my sister lived there she & her husband was stationed there
at Elmendorf AFB

I worked for both Ft. Richardson Army Base & Elmendorf AFB
doing investigations for a special investigation group
when I wasn't up in Prudoe

So do I, but this ain't no picnic either: I have to do a brake job on the front of my son's car when I get home from work today and it's 18 degrees out there. No garage to work in & snow over ice. I sure as hell ain't lookin forward to it, especially at my age!
That's where Meineke comes in handy.
