seen it all too often...….. and if you only do the underside framework, do not hit the skin, not even a little bit...……. look at this mess, 64 GTO on cl..... I bet he destroyed the roof and trunk lid too https://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/d/64-pontiac-gto-tri-power-4/6622126417.html

Ugh. Another case for learning on junkyard parts when you attempt something for the first time.

That's a shame. Restoring one of those is hard due to lack of aftermarket support. I heard they don't make body panels for them

As I'm just about to go do some slag blasting..lol
You have to know your equipment and have experiance so you know when to lower air pressure or just to avoid it all together.

The last (and only) hood I had done I took to a hot rod shop that's been in business for 35 years. I've seen their stuff and it looked like quality work, so I brought them the hood and asked them to media blast it (plastic). The said they do it all the time and would recommend glass. Okay, you're the experts.

They ******* warped it. Not as bad as that Goat pictured, but it still oil cans. :cursin:

I've got first hand experience with that! I took my hood to my local blast guy to have the frame blasted, I didnt even get it out of my mouth when he said "I know, don't blast the skin in the openings". When I got it home I noticed all of the glue between the skin and frame was falling out then noticed what was a primed and blocked skin was completely ruined! I was furious but I had badly wanted to turn it into a shaker hood, sometimes things happen for a reason lol. 2/3 of the metal is new and it's now a shaker. Yes... NEVER BLAST HOOD SKINS UNLESS YOU LIKE METAL WORK!

Seller claims to have over $10,000 in bodywork done to the car. Can't tell by t he pictures. And you're correct eldubb, the trunk lid is in the same condition.

what did they use? walnut shell? (<<<< very sharp on the edges) I blast tail booms on 206s, 412s ,414s Helicopters with a plastic Media.. and done properly it does work..

Wow, always wondered what it looked like when blasting goes wrong.

Now I'm okay with my last media blasting adventure cost. Guess I paid for experience.
