once i get the patch panels welded in the firewall and the udercoating off of the inner fender area , what should i clean the metal with to get it ready for paint ?

i used AIRCRAFT stripper in some areas of the engine bay and alot of it plus KEROSENE & PAINT THINNER/MINERIL SPARITS for the under coating on the inner fenders .

i want to be sure im on bare metal before primming & paint . so what steps & products should i take and use to clean the metal ?

thanks RANDY

If your old paint is not peeling or has visible rust underneath it it can be featheredged, sanded and painted. Stripping it to the bare metal is not always necessary. Paint stripper and the other products you have used can come back to haunt you if the leached into any seams on overlapping panels. Post a pic of your progress and I can give you some pointers, with what you've posted here there are just too many variables! I hope you rinsed the paint stripper off the panels before it dried!
