Hi Guys,

I have a 64 Polara running an Indy 528 Street Legend Hemi. It is has Milodon Deep Sump 7 quart oil pan with the Milodon big block mopar dipstick with flexible tubing.

During standard oil check maintenance, the dipstick connected with something and the last 3 inches of the dipstick broke off into the pan.

I'll have to drop the pan to get it out. (Magnets don't work and I couldn't find it using an endoscope. Even if I did locate it, I'll never get it out of the drain hole.)

Question - All this aftermarket stuff is new to me. There is a reusable Fel-pro gasket currently in place. I bought a new one in case I tear the old one taking off the pan. Internet says normal torque specs for Milodon is around 15-18lb feet torque with reguar gasket. Does anyone know what the torque spec would be with the Fel-pro? OR do you tighten to feel? I'm used to stock pans. Any help/suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

I tighten by feel and watching the gasket. Don't over tighten. A 1/4 inch ratchet will get the fasteners plenty tight. By feel I would say about 125in/lbs. Use Ultra Gray and once it's all snugged up and dry you could take the bolts out and it wouldn't leak.

Thank you Doug. That is reassuring. I bought the ultra black. Do you put Ultra Grey on both sides of the gasket? I should mention I purchase the blue rubber/composite Felpro gasket. Felpro says to install dry with RTF dabs on the corners only....is that true?

Both sides. The only reason it even has a gasket is it makes removal easier. you can tear it up. With just Ultra (grey or black) alone good luck getting the pan off.
