I fit my dougs headers today on the 440. They are really well made. My issue is with my starter. I went with a 94 Dakota starter. It was a bear to wrestle up with the header. Fitment is insanely close (can't get a finger between the primary and starter). I heard there is an even smaller mini starter used from 97-99ish. Is this right. I need all the room I can get.
Thanks. Erik

I have loads of space between my Dougs and starter on my 440 block

This is the only photo I have handy of the starter but maybe you can figure out if the orientation of the bolt hole is the same as yours.

What starter is that? My positive and negative terminals are almost touching the block.

I have no idea - just grabbed it at a swap meet. Has a part number on it but won't be able to get that for you till tomorrow.

There are some starters with terminals that are actually extensions. They can be removed to reveal a shorter set of terminals closer to the starter body. I have no idea why they are made that way but I have seen it many times.

I have an OEM starter with terminals like in that picture. Chrysler PN 56027702AC. FYI the "terminal adapter" like that does not come apart to change the terminal orientation like some do. I currently run the style with the terminals close the block with no problems.

I went with a 98 Dakota Denso. Tons of room. Question. Will I have any issue with my ring gear? I think it's a 143 tooth.
