I had a little trouble getting the snout in the trans hole. Check the diameter of the nose that goes into trans.

I wound up rebuilding my starter and gave up on the mine starter, But I measured what your talking about and they were both the same. It sort of felt like that was the problem, but I couldn't see the problems laying on my back trying to put the damn thing in.
