Mishimoto MMRAD-CHABB-7026 Rad in 73 Roadrunner

I just bought this rad and well, it don't fit. I was just looking at some of the posts here and found this one Radiator mounts for a 73 ? | For B Bodies Only Classic Mopar Forum with the same issue. My question, with brackets will this rad work to cool a 440? I'm wondering if anyone has tried it yet.
That said I think I will look into the one from Champion Radiator.

Trench, don't freak out brother. I had to substantially massage a Champion to put into my 70 (mainly the shroud). So....if you've got at least a 3-core, 26" wide aluminum radiator, it will cool a 440 (you don't have twin turbos or something do you?).

In what way doesn't it fit? If the side brackets are wide enough & you can line it up in the core support appropriately so that you can get a shroud on it, you're good. If you have a choice to drill a hole in the radiator bracket vs. the core support of the car....radiator bracket gets drilled. Get creative. If you have some pictures of your situation it will help. There are some clever guys on this forum

Thanks for the reply. The new rad is not quite as wide as the original so I think brackets will be the way to go. And no twin turbos, just a good ol' 440.

The dimensions of the core are 26.1 x 17.3 x 2.5 and it is has 3 rows. That leaves 0.83 per row. I'll see if I can get an exact size of the tubes but I would say 3/4" would be correct.

If using e-fans, many have had good luck, I went through 3 brands, multiple shroud configurations and could never cool on the interstate. Went mechanical and shroud and runs almost too cool.

Got some pictures and took some measurements today.
I am thinking I can build a couple of brackets to mount it to the body and will have to do the same for the shroud.
Any input is welcome.

I put the Champion radiator in my 74 Charger and also in my 64 Sport Fury. The Charger has the factory shroud and only had to drill one hole on the core support and fits like a glove.
Solid flex fan and 180 t stat. Goes up to 190 when stat opens and runs consistently around 185 regardless of traffic or weather conditions. Fury does not have a shroud and runs the same way. Very simple and efficient.

Just my opinion and experience after several years with these cars and zero cooling system issues so far and that’s a beautiful thing.

Thanks 64fury74charger. It looks like the best thing to do is send the Mishimoto back and get a Champion Rad.

According to Bandit(the original poster), the Champion CC503 is pretty much a direct bolt-in deal.

At $235, it's a damn good-looking deal.
