It's nearing time to have my road runner seats recovered. The car has mini-tubs. Can anyone describe or post a link showing what needs to be changed on the seat frame before it's covered to get it to fit?

Thanks in advance,

The seat back and bottom are both hanging on the wall with the original covers on them, so a photo isn't likely to help. Sorry.

I hope you're right that they don't need to be modified, that will make things a lot simpler.

BTW, I noticed I didn't include the year - it's a 69 road runner.

Piece of cake. I did mine with all the material still in place. Only the seat back needs to be modified - not the seat bottom. The only mods needed were a couple pieces of the wire on the back side - cut, bent inward then re-welded. I seem to recall only a couple small welds - one or two on each side. There was no cutting or modifying of the main framework. I covered things with a thick blanket to prevent any weld sparks from hitting the seat material. The welds are short and sweet so no harm done. Sadly no photos.

If you're having the seats recovered, take all the material off the seat back and then install it in place - you'll be able to see what needs to be modified.

And mine is a '69 road runner too.

I guess the question was unclear as I thought your seats were already in the car.

Maybe post a picture of your mini tub then from the inside. I still don’t think I anything needs to be done to modify the seat to accommodate a mini tub

Well there u you have it!

Gkent, how big was your mini tub?

It doesn't look like I have a photo of them, I will take a few photos later today. The tub goes to the frame rail.

I googled and found that the USCT kit doesn't require changes, which doesn't make sense if you do have to modify it if you don't use their kit.

Thanks everyone for the help.

Agreed, I did my seat the same as Gkent just cutting down and reusing exiting seat material. However, mine is a E Body. Unfortunately, I don't have many photos on my phone. I also had to modify my lower half seat to accommodate the two bars that I ran from my cage main hoop that go through the seat and floor board to the top of my spring perches.

Same thing I did on my A-body, it's just the frame nothing to do with the springs.

A quick photo of the rear seat area

You need to install the seat belt anchors if you intend to put belts back in. You also need to re-install the tabs that hold the seat back in place. But since the car is painted you'd likely have to screw those in place.

Mine with the seay installed:
