Here is a link to a four page thread over on forcbodiesonly.com (hope this is OK to reference) discussing Mopar applications of turquoise on big blocks.

https://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopa...ine-mopar-turquoise-specifically.42893/page-1

My question is, was turquoise also used on 426 hemi's? There seems to be Google search images from back in the day showing NASCAR 426 hemi's in this color. Does anyone know the history of this turquoise vs hemi orange on the 426 hemi motors?

Thanks

The nascar hemis would all be built by the race teams. They would paint them whatever colour they wanted. I assume.

Jake King painted his Ford blue.

I have a severely milled and lightened '66 block that was raced pretty hard by somebody. It was painted blue at some point, always wondered if Jake King had his hands on it. Its just a rough old Hemi block now though.

Kinda puts this to bed. There was one other in-car motor image but it was difficult to determine blue/gray/turquoise. The tribute build gets this color. Should be lots of discussions when I show it next year.

Here's a more recent pic of Maurice laying his blessing on a 1970 Superbird's Hemi I coated a bunch of parts for.
