Most American Gun?

GAU-8 30m mm cannon on A-10! ha ha. 70 rounds/sec of armor piercing, depleted uranium bullets. Once, on the range in AZ, i saw one of my rounds skip 2-3x at least 2 miles down range.

At onetime, this very jet, -647 had my name on it,

or Springfield Armory 1911M spec .177 CO2 14 shot

my new toy, for practice, feels like a .45acp in your hands
just lil' to no kick, love the action
I put Pachmayr polymer finger grip on it as soon as I unboxed it

I agree with Colt for the 19th & 20th century handguns. Specifically, the SAA & 1911.

However, General George S. Patton famously praised the M1 Garand rifle, calling it "the greatest battle implement ever devised" in a January 1945 letter to the Chief of Ordnance.

Note: General George S. Patton died from his injuries 80 years ago, yesterday.

In an automobile accident no less,
from a broken neck complication
he was in the back seat, no belts back then

RIP Gen. Patton,
you helped & won the war & are/were a 1 of a kind real leader of men

To answer more seriously, I would have to suggest due to its ubiquitous appearance in dozens (hundreds?) of movies and legendary status, and the antithesis of the AK-47...it has to be the M16/AR-15.

Marlin/Sturm-Ruger I wish this one came in .357 or .44 mag
1895 Trapper, they do make others in that caliber...
I like the Trapper's stainless & synthetic stocks, with the old western style of a bigger lever action
not real sweet on a 45-70, I have other rifles for what the 45-70 could do,
no need

well the ones,
that didn't go down in that boat sinking

or the 336 Marlin/Strum Ruger version now
or 1894 in .44 Mag, great brush guns, .38 special/.357 mag too

Surprised nobody mentioned Sig Sauer MHS or Legion/Emperor respectively
in .45acp/9mm
I know some didn't like the Sig's for a while, but they had/have a few nice semi-autos
M220
Gun Sig Sauer Legion .45acp full-size 5in - rated 1 of the best 45's made.jpg

Gun Sig Sauer Emperor .45acp 5in - rated 1 of the best 1911 style 45's.jpg

or like the newer std. Military stuff or shooters stuff
grant you most are based on Colt's/Browning's basic designs/concepts
pretty-much American now

Good companion piece to the 1911 since they use the same magazines. Marlin camp 45.
16 inch barrel making 1000 ft./s with a 230 grain bullet. Pretty dang accurate too.
