Picked this 500 up just recently. Factory black(original paint still on car) with red interior. Buckets, console. 383 4bbl w/4spd. 3.23 sure-grip, with heavy duty brakes and suspension. AM radio with reverb, tach and more. Besides the wheels I threw on it, the car is 100% original down to all the metal parts tags. Exterior rusty from being a northern car (never left Dixon IL till now) but subframes solid and Im going to save it. Have build sheet and certicard too. Built Jan. 8, 1964 and delivered Jan.20, 1964.

I put the other 64 dodge I bought up for sale (2dr sedan) for sale on here so I can get a parts car to rebuild this baby. Keep an eye on thread for resto pics to follow. I need sheetmetal so keep me in mind. I had considered cutting up sedan to save this one but cant bring myself to do that.

Car was ordered by mechanic at the local dodge dealership. No power options just all the go fast in a straight line options. Been stuck away in garage basically since 1984. Buddy of mine has know since new and had always wanted to buy and guy wouldnt sell. Spotted sitting outside a couple years ago and guy was ready to sell. Buddy is older and couldnt afford to redo so Im taking his lead and saving the old girl.

I completely agree. There's somethin about those early 60s Mopars that looks extra sinister in black.

wow, that looks like a good solid start for a resto project.

Ole Girl is a runner

tach.jpgengine.jpgFired up original engine this weekend. Last parked and shut off around 1984 she came to life this weekend. Lifters were a tad bit loud at first but soon pumped up and engine is running smooth and seems so strong. Running off a fuel can to keep trash out of carb from tank. Original carb is even doing great, no leaks is responsive, idling great and starts on first crank. :) Is building good oil pressure, is charging and no scary noises. Neighbors came out commenting "damn that sounds mean!" and "I cant believe it runs"

Original tach even works great.

Good deal. Did she smoke at all on the start up?
