Can I get some help identifying what the "SELECT" electric module
Just an update on my 512 project.... The things that you find out about modifying and replacing factory components with aftermarket items. Source 440 bottom end with the Edelbrock RPM kit and using the Pro Flo 4 fuel injection created an unexplained situation on start up procedures for the break-in of the included cam and lifters. I didn't know that when buying the Pro Flo 4 system it is made for an engine that has been running on a carb system. All the start up procedures and settings indicate that the new system will perform the protocol to get it running properly when you install it on an engine that is already broke in. This includes the system heating up to a specified temperature and then perhaps shutting down. Then it will run at different RPM settings to establish proper fuel flow. I think all of that is probably great for it to sort of self learn on it's own. Technology! But it won't allow you to override the throttle and get this fresh new engine up to 2000 or so RPM for the 15 to 20 minute break-in period. The Edelbrock people told us to take off the new Pro Flo fuel injection throttle body, remove the new electronic distributor and install the 4V carb and the old distributor and break-in the engine with those components and then install the Pro Flo 4 system and the new electronic distributor. Just another lesson learned or have any of you discovered another way to do this? Well I don't think even that question is appropriate as we are doing what Edelbrock has made clear how it needs to be done. Just posted this for anyone else thinking about rebuilding and going with any electronic fuel injection system on a fresh engine.... Perhaps by the end of the week this 2 year long project will roar back to life!
