I wonder if Toyota used that GTO as an influence in their 1967 GT?

Could be Photon. A friend had one, of 35 hand made, Yamaha handled the driveline on them.
You, today, have led the horses to drink, spawned Godzilla i think, looks like the 1GZ-FE is a go for the Alpha GT, how appropriate the theme is all Japanese & Godzilla is Japanese. Insofar, it looks as if bell mate & crank/flywheel bolt pattern ate same as the 4.0 v8, so my adaptor kit would also bolt this GZ v12 to my porchuh t-axle, if i wanted to really push an envelope......could do it.....dont think anyone had done a v12 in a bug yet......article You sent said v12 is 10 percent smoother than the fabulously smooth 4.0 v8......the v12 is only about 5" longer than the v8, & narrower, 60 degree block v/s 90.
A beauty w/ the v12 is they are all Japanese domest motors, so 30K miles is top on engines available here.
Also pictured on grainy photo, is a two plate clutch set up that writer of article is using in mating his v12 to a turbo Supra 5 spd, & apparently there is a 3 plate set up that can be had.......so for the Pherrari, this is absolute since its narrower than v8 & the photo illustrates a clean looking v8 install in a Z car.....go remote sump if cross member presents issue, btw, thesr hold 8 litres of oil. Im running on two different late model engines in Texas right now, free shipping, and both are under 5k apiece, mated to 6 spd autos......sure ill come back down & stick to v8 for Bug, but the GTO is definitely getting the v-12.........its just the order of nature that beckons. Thank You Photon!

Nix on the clutch set-up, bbo woulfn,t take upload......nice looking set up, but i can live with a 6 spd auto i think, probably padfle shiftong available. The GTO, when taken to Az DMV, created a constant crowd all day, as wiyh the entirr DMV staff, these people were enamored w ith our dusty old roller, has maybe even caught some automotive press attention already, because of its history.
