There's a big drilling rig a block away. They sunk a bunch of 35' I-Beams in the drilling pad, then draped big tarps across them, I guess for noise and keeping the public out. I'm a geologist so I asked the driller how far they're going for a water resevoir. He said 1100'. I'm used to drilling 1 to 2 miles down for oil. Water is terribly expensive here in Colorado but they still keep building more homes.

Then a company is ripping out the sidewalks and replacing them. That means all residents are parking on the street. I guess that's a good thing although my neighborhood is only 25 years old.

Then some company is running fiber optic cables so my yard, driveway and sidewalks are all marked with different colors of spray paint for the lines. I hope they don't rip up my sprinkler system.

Makes sense I guess with our short summers.

Whew.

It's an orientation marking for an alien landing site.

How can water be expensive in a state that gets a **** ton of snow?

If you consider the snow melts and the water all flows to lower elevations. Most of the streams and rivers are fast flowing rapids. No time to soak in. Lots of whitewater rafting tours here. They don't mention the skiing, rock climbing and whitewater accidents. It's bad for tourism. Already our roads are jammed with out of state tourist. Lions, tigers and bears. Well maybe not tigers. Mountain Lions, Grizzlies, black and brown bears. Don't forget those little F'ers Prarie Dogs. They're everywhere. They carry diseases.

Where I live they have been updating a lot of the underground infrastructure. Been going on a while and neighborhood is starting to remind me of a certain movie.

Early on I knew real estate and raising a family was about the 3 “L’s” all about location, location and location….

No one knows how to build reservoir's there!?
Can't have dam dams in a 'tourist' state......

I’ve been leaving the prairie dogs alone here on my property. Now that I know they carry diseases……good as gone

I would look into what they carry and what is transmitted.. I know a guy from over by my work that killed EVERY raccoon because they CAN get rabies. Piece of **** would leave them in a have a heart trap and drown them. It was an insane approach and I will leave it there and won't say anything else.

I don't do raccoons, but if I caught him trying that, he'd be next..... I'd bury him in legal bills till he screamed uncle. There are other ways to deal with the problem, not with him, I mean for the raccoons.

I live trap raccoons and take them to a much more rural area.
Possums and armadillos too.

I don't do to many different critters. If they don't screw with me, I'm good. But being cruel to any animal or person will set me off. I will say pythons, invasive carp and the super pigs, feral hog, need to go. They are literally devouring and destroying our way off life. Gun time, with feral hogs, bring a bigger gun.

Now there's irony...
Don't get me started. I got the guy thrown off the property I managed. Then the group of guys that he hung out with kind of alienated him from the group shortly after that.

I've had prairie dogs as pets for a lot of years and learned a bunch about them. ALL animals 'can' carry something but they usually get that something from something else. They are also a 'keystone' animal meaning that they are at the bottom of the food chain and a bunch of other animals depend on them for their food...especially for diurnal animals since the 'dogs' are too.

Years ago Texas banned them because one tested positive for....I can't remember just what it was anymore but turns out someone shipped some exotic rats and one that was infected bit a PD and that PD ended up with some girl that the PD didn't like and he bit her and she got it. Took Texas too many years to lift the ban though but I had a vet that would still 'see' my dogs. None of my dogs ever tested for whatever that was....
