My new stock stroke 400 build

Read Post #591 again.

(I'm thinking of getting heads for my Plymouth now, I'm blaming you DAVE!)
But I'm actually considering put a smaller cam in it, so there.

Don, I called Summit this morning and gave them the discount code DEALSP and they refunded me another $120.00 on top of the 10% off, so if you do order be sure to use the code.

OOOH that buys the head bolts.

Hopefully that Christmas bonus isn't just the "jelly of the month club".

I talked to my machine shop guy yesterday and he thinks the head swap is a win/win. Higher compression and better flow, even with the small cam.

Another plus, I needed to fix a leaky valve cover gasket anyway!
It's not a Big Block, unless the valve cover gasket leaks!

Hawk, you may recall that the stroker was originally dynoed using home ported 452 heads, and later switched to Performer RPM's. There may be a trend here?
Hey, I'm following the same sickness with my POS driver Vette. The engine wasn't right, and all the sudden it is getting a full rebuild and, you guessed it, aluminum heads... :bananaweed:

Hawk, my buddy had a 78 Vette which he sent to my machine shop to be rebuilt. I spec'd what should have been a perfect cam for him. After he installed the engine it was a huge disappointment. We finally figured the problem had to be the smog heads. We changed them for a set of aftermarket iron heads. After I lashed the valves we took it for a ride, and it finally made the power we felt it should have all along.

My heads arrived safely today. I probably won't have time to unpack them until the weekend

I spoke to the machine shop today and he agreed with me on using the 1.6 rockers. He can get me a pretty good deal on PRW stainless steel rollers, and says he uses them a lot and has good luck with them. I'm headed down the rabbit hole Don.

Wait til you spill some coolant.

I was able to unpack the new heads today. I have to say, for an entry level head they are very well finished. I laid some intake gaskets on them and the port match is dead on. There is hardly any ridge where the CNC machine cut ends. I didn't have an exhaust gasket to try, but they look just as good. I will disassemble and lap the valves to make sure .

How nice. Wife's Christmas present, Dave? LOL

I tried to remove a valve today, but my valve spring compressor wouldn't even move the spring, so off to the machine shop they go. Just so I could say I accomplished something, I decided to get the A/C stuff removed.

I think I found your overheating problem. I hate those clutch fans! Just my experience.
