My new to me 64 Polara

I went north 20 min. to drop off some moldings that Jeff will deliver to Arizona to the guy that owned my Polara. Of course while I was in his warehouse, I had to ask about a turn signal switch. Jeff had a whole column worth the money with a "feels like it's a good one" switch in it. Even the steering wheel isn't to bad.

I paid $200 for my 63 Fury in 1972 when I was 16. I paid $1200 for my 1972 Demon 340 in 1975.

I paid $275.00 for my '64 Polara in 1980, and another $125.00 for a U.S. '64 Polara parts car that had factory air and tinted glass. Later that year, I bought a running, driving, safety-checked '64 Polara 500 convertible for $2300.00. This was a complete, solid ex-Georgia car.

Cool old stories. My 69 RoadRunner in 72 cost me $1200. They were a little over $3000 new if I remember right. I was in high school then working weekends at the Phillips 66 station to pay for it.

Like Christmas here today. Gaskets and cash from the previous owner of my Polara. I sent him some interior moldings. And a Polara factory brochure in perfect condition. Found it on E bay and of course had to have it.

Paid 5500 for a 68 road runner coupe (uh post?) dressed in full GTX exterior trim in late 83 and it ran 10.60's in the 1/4 mile. Can't believe how mild mannered it was for having a 660 lift cam and a 4500 stall. Maybe the stall was what helped it lol. Used to take the 'long' way to my pit when coming back in from a pass. Loved driving it....it drank 1 gallon per pass and if I went too long on the way in, it ran out but tried to keep the 7 gallon tank full on every pass for consistency and it was every bit of that! Put one gallon in it just to see how far it would go. Ran out on the return road just as we were coming into the pits.

I paid $2500 for my 64 earlier this year. 383/727 8 3/4. The guy completely rebuilt everything except the interior and body, but it wouldn't crank. It sat for 7 years. He finally gave up and wanted it gone. I bought it and found the connector between the shifter cable and the rooster comb wasn't installed. No gear changes are possible without it, so no way to activate the neutral safety switch. A&A Transmission in Ohio had one. Drive it all the time.

WOW !!!

Didn't expect you to sell it :) you got such a good deal.. I would keep the outside as is and enjoy
Like Jeff's wing car. He has been taking it to an occasional car cruise and loving it. The car was repainted the original color sometime in it's life and it is far from perfect but that's cool for a driver. He leans against it. Set's his lunch on it and if it get's a ding or scratch it's not the end of the world . No trailer queen here. He has owned 18 wing cars and he was the previous owner of this one back in the day.

Get a piece of foam pipe insulation or a swimming pool noodle for the handle.
