Why would you think the distributor is causing your overheating issue?
Did you check the thermostat? Water pump?

Also,
A temp of 200 is not overheating...but...
As 69redrunner asks..."Why would you think the distributor is causing your overheating issue?

That's my thought too!

Pressure check just to start basics

Yeah the thermostat is brand new and the water pump is newish. We think it needs a new distributor because the vacuum advance isn't working. Since we replaced the radiator the car only went to 205 at the most, but usually sits around 200. Is that okay?

What temperature thermostat did you install? If it was a 195*, there is no problem. Any radiator shop can diagnose actual temperature and pressure problems. When was the last time the car ran consistently at a temperature below 200?

I replaced the crabuetrtor a couple months ago and that's when the the temperature started to go up sometimes to 230 and the thermostat is a 160 degree one. But which distributor do yall think is the best? http://www.ebay.com/itm/191015060874...:MEBIDX:IT or http://www.ebay.com/itm/331269940718...:MEBIDX:IT

Yes, I know you can change the vacuum advance, but I have a really old distributor and was wondering what yall prefer for a new distributor, the new HEI or the original style?
