Need to do the leaf springs.

I checked the leaf springs today just to see how bad they were. Well, I got my answer. The bushings on the rear shackles are all but gone and everything is a mess. I'm just going to get new everything. If all the bolts break, who cares. I want to get new springs, hangers, eye bolts, shackles and U-bolts. I think I'm going to add a rear sway bar from Firm feel while I'm at it. funny thing is, the shocks are new, but the car was never driven since the prior owner put them in, and the rubber on the shock mounts is cracking. Buying everything new should save me allot of time and trouble as I wont have to worry about removing any bushings or shells.

How about a place called General Spring? I tried Mancini, but they are out of stock on pretty much all springs.

Yeah, that's my plan. I still have to get it done, but for now it just sits in my driveway waiting for work to be done.

If you saw the nuts for the hangers and the same for the u-bolts, you would know why I just want to change everything. I will add some pics tomorrow. I want order all the hardware as I expect everything to snap from 59 years of rust.

They've never snapped on you? My luck is they will snap and I will have to wait to replace them. They are selling them for 40 bucks.

And you need a u bolt with the flattened part of the U, otherwise you may risk crimping the housing. Although I don't think they take much torque.

I actually just changed the U-bolts to the square one. I will check and see what my car has tomorrow.

I believe the torque spec is 45lb/ft

That sounds right. They don't take much.

I got a set of MP SS springs made in Mexico from Direct Connection in I think 1995. Junk. At that time if IIRC no warranty. The dealer refunded my money and I had springs built to original 440 specs with an extra inch of arc. Love them.

The units I put in my 67 wagon last year came from General Spring. generalspringkc.com. I got the 6 leaf XHD units with the added 2.5" additional arch. Great price and fast service. The car also got my FF 1.06" t-bars, FF front sway bar, FF upper control arms, FF RCD valved Bilsteins. Other bushings, joints, tie rods, arm bumpers, idler and Pittman arm came from brother Craig @mobileparts. Replaced the steering box and pump with actual new units from Lares.

I put a Lares box in it in September. I'm glad you mentioned that General Spring is good. They seem to have fair prices for their stuff. They have everything I want, except the hangers. I will most likely get them from Mancini.
