Hi Guys
Got a 1970 Charger and the engine won't crank at all anymore. Just switched the NSS last month and haven't driven it more than twice since. Today I replaced the alternator and Voltage Regulator as both were shot. Battery is now charging again, but the car still won't crank. Pulled the cap off the NSS and put the car in reverse and checked the terminals in the cap. Only one shows power running when in reverse. I also tried to start the car in neutral and it didn't work, as well as moving the shifter. Any ideas on what might be causing the NSS to go bad if that is the problem?

Not really sure what you mean by taking off the cap?? Try rotating the connector 180 degrees as it can be put on backwards.

That is the cap I am referring to, the connector. I tried turning it around and it started cranking again and then the next day it wouldn't work again?

The connector gets hard from heat, and it is most likely not making connection. Clean the connector of oil with carb cleaner, pinch the connectors together, and try that. Worst case, you buy a new connector and splice it in.

Check for continuity in park and neutral between the middle pin and ground, it could be the switch going bad.

Do you have a remote starter? I would try to bypass the NSS. A remote starter has 2 alligator clips. 1 goes to the positive cable and the other goes to the stud on the starter relay that goes to the NSS. I had a problem with mine and the NSS was good, but continuity in the wire was bad.
