New 2 Door Dodger Charger, Unfortunately An EV.

Saw one in the wild 2 weeks ago.

My first time seeing one.

None t the dealerships I pass.

I actually saw my first Hornet on the street yesterday. I did not recognize it, or the logo on the fender. (It a bunch smaller than I thought)
If it weren't for the two-stripe dodge logo on the wheels, I still wouldn't know what it was.
Still haven't seen a two door charger in the wild.

I've seen a couple Hornets.

Not easy to spot at the dealer, though.

Wonder why?

Roughly $10k "cheaper" than a Ram 3500.
:p

***
and weighs about the same.

Not a bad looking car, though.

Distinctive front end, kinda like a can-am car.

It's black. Even if I WANTED one, it wouldn't be that one. I've had several black cars. NEVER again
(I've seen 123°f in the shade of my back porch. I simply do not understand ANYBODY buying a black car here, yet I see them every day.)

Not everyone lives in Arizona. :)

The three primary "colors" in the automotive industry:
Black
White
Grey or silver

Boring

The new CEO Chairman of Stellantis USA (Former SRT guy),
is a Hemi guy, he said it was coming back, in several cars/trucks
I think a lot of this EV crap will be s--tcanned, post haste...

The EPA is under different leadership &
all the states EV mandates, have been reversed too

EVs are still decades away, for normalcy & their infrastructure
much of the $$$ feds funds, were wasted;
$8 Billion feds/taxpayers $$$s spent/squandered
on 8 charger stations

(not the cars, the actual infrastructure/charging stations, it's far more than that,
on the failed EV cars)
in the past 4 years prior to Jan 2024
That part is just part of the many reasons,
the other is they aren't & won't sell at the rates they demanded
& it's automotive sells 101;
you can't force buying public/people to buy what they don't want
or what they don't like at all, as we've seen, they just sit on lots & rot...

The new leaders are saying, bring the choices back to the people
the v8 or I.C.E. in general are nearing perfection for power/economy stds
finally we have some logic coming back into the equations, or the EPA

I think I’ve been way more positive about the new Charger than most, saw one in person for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was underwhelmed. I expected to like it in person but I don’t know, it left me cold. I’m talking purely aesthetics, not how I feel about the power train.

Maybe it will grow on me.

It is TOO BIG

It is hard to get enthusiastic about what should be a sports car when it weighs 5700lbs(+!!) in base trim and is only 2 feet shorter(vs extended cab! only 6" shorter then a regular cab!) and actually 8"wider then a 3/4 ton truck from the 90's. Oh the 4.3 V6 Chevy 2500 Regular cab in 1995 was a smidge under 4000lbs, for comparison. Add 400lbs for a 350.

The Scat pack Charger has a 250 mile range and requires just shy of 10 hours to recharge, at home. It is AWD and full of nanny computers so no burnouts for you.

For comparison, my 2013 4 door AWD hemi charger weighs 4400lbs, has a range 100 miles longer then the ev on a $65 tank of gas I can refill in 5 minutes, and while it is 120HP less it also weighs 1300+lbs less. I also paid 28k out the door and I ordere my car custom, vs what? 70k for the new one?
The new one will beat my car on the strip because it has a CVT(electric after all) vs my 5 speed auto.
From someone that owns an AWD Charger, the new one does it all wrong.

EPA has handcuffed the auto industry, new cars should be as safe or safer but lighter, more powerful, and cost less to produce. THAT is what progress should be doing! Instead we go backwards and make it cost more to boot.

Of course you are not enthusiastic, they went backwards on every performance category except raw HP and then tripled the price.

It is AWD and full of nanny computers so no burnouts for you.
If that's important to you, stop fretting. The Charger's 'nanny computers' also allow you to engage line lock and roast the rears to your hearts content.

And while 5700 pounds is way too much, that is for the EV version with the heavy battery. The ICE version is expected to be slightly under the weight of the last Challenger.

I know someone who traded in a V code
shaker hood Challenger R/T for one of those. He shall remain nameless to prevent him being banned from the forum! Lol
Is that person still happy about that decision? I've had lots of cars but there are some that I wish I had never sold!

I have two red pickups which stay in the garage. They are both faded....funny how my black trucks that were mostly outside didn't fade. I'm not a fan of red....actually, red is #1 on my color hate list but both of the trucks just ran too good to pass up. One is a 97 that I bought around 2001 and it was already faded. Another red one is a 96 with a repaint that I got (the truck) 6 years ago and it had a slight shine and I buffed the hood and the front fenders. They still look ok but they are fading again. I like blue and silver but don't mind black either. In 74 I bought a red 67 Dart and buffed the whole car until it looked great. A year later it was back to dull.

Its still an Alfa or some garbage under that sticker and goofy looking hood.. If the quality is like my wife’s Jeep I’d tell ya to keep walking. I own 8 Mopars and the newest one sucks bad ! Called Jeep cares the other day and spoke with a foreigner about the problems I could barely understand him ... made it worse! Cummins has also switched recently to India for their call center when you call 800-Cummins Cares.. still a few Americans answer once in awhile but primarily Indians that could care less. Cummins says they have a global answering center ... primarily poor speaking indians
