new 440 crank and tiny dings what do ya think

hey guy's I am in the process of building a 440 for my 73 roadrunner and it was put on hold for a few months bt now the assembly is going to begin. I purchased this reman forged crank a few months ago after the one I purchased on ebay was found to have a crack in it after magnafluxing by machinist. this crank came from a company that remans cranks and resells them it is the company my machinist uses for his builds. anyways the crank was left in the plastic and set aside until now and today I was looking at it and noticed a few little knicks in the journal. I guess my question is this are these something I have to worry about and is this normal. I know I didn't do this and there is no raised edges around these imperfections so I'm not sure where they came from.

I don't see any problem if they are below the surface, make sure nothing is raised on their edges. If you have a machinist he can check with dykem and a polish with some crocus cloth.

I see remans like this all of the time. If you are in doubt, have your machinist polish the crank to make sure there are no raised edges.

for the cost of a polish I would have my machine shop check for straight measure and polish before use

Just stone it down,it will be fine.

I work for a foundry that makes cranks for 2 of the big 3... it's fine

As long as there are no high spots run it. And if there are high spots do as said above and stone it down. The dings are also in the middle of the journal so they won't even see the bearings.
